Yesaya 2:10

2:10 Go up into the rocky cliffs,

hide in the ground.

Get away from the dreadful judgment of the Lord, ¹ 

from his royal splendor!

Yesaya 5:28

5:28 Their arrows are sharpened,

and all their bows are prepared. ² 

The hooves of their horses are hard as flint, ³ 

and their chariot wheels are like a windstorm. ⁴ 

Yesaya 57:14

57:14 He says, ⁵ 

“Build it! Build it! Clear a way!

Remove all the obstacles out of the way of my people!”

[2:10]  ¹ tn Heb “from the dread of the Lord,” that is, from the dread that he produces in the objects of his judgment.” The words “get away” are supplied in the translation for stylistic reasons.

[5:28]  ² tn Heb “bent” (so KJV, NAB, NASB, NRSV); NIV “are strung.”

[5:28]  ³ tn Heb “regarded like flint.”

[5:28]  ⁴ sn They are like a windstorm in their swift movement and in the way they kick up dust.

[57:14]  ⁵ tn Since God is speaking throughout this context, perhaps we should emend the text to “and I say.” However, divine speech is introduced in v. 15.
